P-51C Mustang “Tuskegee Airmen” damaged in wheels-up landing.

The P-51C Mustang "Tuskegee Airman" of the Commemorative Air Force's Red Tail Squadron was substantially damaged in a wheels-up landing on 4 February in Dallas. The pilot and Unit Leader, Bill Shepard, walked away from the accident unhurt.

The P-51 was taking part in a routine flight when it crashed. It hit the runway without landing gear down before skidding on to the grass. The propeller was torn clean off and the bodywork also sustained heavy damage. It is not clear what caused the crash.
