BIG NEWS!!!! NEW HOBBY MASTER 1/72 1950s SAAF HARVARDS HAVE LANDED!!! These are really neat models featuring a mid 1950s paint scheme and using the Springbok SAAF Roundel!!!!
On the marketing front these will be available individually and as a pair with the previous Hobby Master SAAF Harvard release we're all familiar with. Taken together, the models will be discounted.
We are also starting to use pictures of the models "flying" when listing on Bid or Buy. Tim Healy, who runs Tricatus and allows us the use of his pictures, often takes photos of the sky when travelling by air and then simply puts the model in the pic! Have look!
We currently also have our website under construction. It does have working links to the blog and Bid or Buy.
Finally, with the year winding down, we'd like to thank you all for your continued support and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!!!
Best wishes,
Dora 9 Diecast!!!
For those of you wondering about Dora 9, i.e. what's that??? See below. ;o)

Not much activity on the blog but plenty happening at D9D!!! First a foray into diecast model cars from Norev. Expected soon are 1/18 Porsche 911 Turbos, a Gallardo Spider and Fernando Alonso's' R28 Renault F1 car.

Then something of a coup with some extremely rare items arriving in SA. First is the Hobby Master Schmenk F-100 in South East Asia camo scheme. It is the first F-100 released and not easy to come by. Another tough one to find is the Hobby Master F-4 Phantom, Showtime 100. Then, along with the F-4, is the superb Century Wings SR-71 Blackbird which should clear Customs shortly!!! Last but not least is the first Hobby Master Bristol Beaufighter, the black nightfighter. This should also be available by next week.

Thursday, 24 September 2009.

Posts without pictures just looks a bit bland so here are pictures of the F-8 added to the BoB site as well as the Fw 190D13. My friend Phil has agreed to let me use some of his pictures too. The Fw 190 was taken by Phil.

Wednesday, 23 September 2009

Last week saw the arrival of yet another Century Wings F-8 (already listed on BoB) and the first of the Carousel 1 Models. This is the Fw 190D13 flown by Frans Gotz. An unsual scheme on an aircraft that survived the war and is on display in a museum in the USA.
In addition four Minichamps 1/35 models arrived and went directly into a waiting collection. The models included 2 M-4 Shermans, a Jagdpanther and an M-48 Paton tank.
Good news is that the Halifax and He-111 have arrived at customs so these along with one or two other models should be available for sale next week.
One of the Dragon Tiger/T-34 sets from the previous post has also been sold leaving just one set available.

Wednesday, 16 September 2009

Took delivery of a Witty VF-111 Sundowners F-14A this morning and immediately delivered it to the client. We'd received a damaged model from the US that thankfully was able to be replaced. Happiness! And another satisfied customer!
On the Armour front things have been very slow even though we've moved some Dragon Armour 1/72 models, Tigers, Panthers and Shermans. Given the slow take up on the Dragons which are very detailed models even though the later releases did get a little light we're hesistant to offer another line, Hobby Master, with new models including the KV 1, Cromwell, Centaur, Pershing, Centurion, T-55, Greyhound Armoured Car and more.
Models currently available including a very hard to find diorama.

Still having issue with delays due to the postal strike. The up side is that two Century Wings fighters have come in! They are the Fighting Shamrocks F-8 and the Limited Edition US Only F-14 Black Knights. Both very desirable! In addition a few Hobby Master planes are due in along with a couple of IXO flying boats in 1/144 scale, these should be interesting. From HM there's a couple of WWII types, Ju-87 Stuka and P-39 Aircobra with the unusual mid-mounted configuration. Modern includes an F-104G, MIG 21 and Mirage 2000. Look out for them on BoB. The F-8 was specifically ordered though.

Monday 7 September 2009

Been doing some buying and have two 1/72 Corgi bombers enroute. One is the Battle of Britain Heinkel He111 H-3 and the other a Halifax B.Mk.III, the most famous one, Friday the Thirteenth. In addition, a few 1/48 Carousel 1 WWII fighters are also being shipped over. These are high quality models that would be well placed in any collection. Some parcels seem to have been affected by the postal strike with two arriving in SA more than a week ago and still no contact from the Post Office. Recent additions to the site include a P-38 Lightning and Hawker Typhoon.
