Pakistan eventually purchased 102 F-86F
Sabres and began to receive the Sabres in 1954. On September 1965 during the
Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 Sqn. Leader, Commander No.11 Squadron Modhammed Mahmood Alam
became an ace within one minute when he downed five Indian Air Force Hawker Hunter
fighters in one minute.
For this action he was awarded the Sitara-e-Jurat
"The star of courage". During the 1965 war he is credited with nine
victories of which six
were Hawker Hunters. In 1982 Modhammed Mahmood Alam retired as an Air Commodore.
