Hobby Master 1/72 Air Power Series HA2118 F-100D Super Sabre 0-53669, 182nd TFS, Texas ANG.
In 1971 the 182nd TFS of the Texas Air National
Guard located at Kelly Field, San Antonio
began receiving their F-100Ds. Most Super Sabres of this period were being used in the Vietnam War but
these aircraft came from the 48th TFW at RAF Lakenheath and the 20th TFW that was
leaving RAF Wethersfield for RAF Upper Heyford and re-equipping with
F-111s.
The 182nd TFS flew the F-100D from 1971 – 1978 and the F-100Ds
were retired and 8, including 0-53669 (55-3669) were converted to QF-100D pilot-less
drones.
