A-10A 79-0143 was built as A10-0407 and eventually
became a United States Air Force Reserve
(AFRES) aircraft with the 47th TFS “Terrible Termites” / 917th TFG located at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. In
October 1980 the 47th TFS traded in their old A-37 Dragonfly’s for the A-10.
Three times the 47th TFS deployed to Aviano AB, Italy
in support of United
Nations operations and flew 501 sorties. A-10 79-0143 was transferred to the 66th Weapons Squadron at
Nellis AFB and in 2003 was written off due to mechanical
failure.
