Visit to Plymouth and FAA Museum
I had a trip to Plymouth this week which included a very quick visit to the FAA Museum as well. Plymouth Hoe was very peaceful in the autumn sunshine and the Royal Navy River-class offshore patrol vessel HMS Severn was putting out to sea. Some interesting memorials as well as one of the Eddystone lighthouses is on display.
My first couple of photos of the Plymouth Memorial are quite sobering when one reads the figures of the dead from WWII - it just brings home the sacrifice (especially Bomber Command). The memorial is in a very nice position and close to the huge Royal Navy memorial. I spent quite a while reading some of the names - emotional stuff.
I wish I had had more time to look around but I only had about 30 minutes and the 'carrier experience' had shut for the evening. There was a Sea King flying around and there is a viewing area so you can watch the aircraft. With the F-35 due to arrive in a few years it could make the FAA Museum an even more attractive proposition for a visit.
There is also a well stocked Antics a few minutes away.
Well worth a visit.
