A Heinkel He-115 floatplane has recently been recovered from a fjord near Stavanger in Norway. The aircraft was lying on its back under 60ft of water since WWII.
The aircraft appears to be in a remarkable state of preservation although it is missing an engine and the floats. Care will have to be taken to prevent corrosion setting in now that it is out of the water.
The aircraft crashed in 1942 and was re-discovered in 2010. A local museum started the project to raise the aircraft.
