Sopwith Triplane Crash 29th June 2014

The Shuttleworths Collections Sopwith Triplane replica had an unfortunate accident while landing at Old Warden Aerodrome during 2014's Military Pageant Air Show. The pilot Dodge Bailey was unhurt in the incident. After a complete assessment of the damage the aircraft will be repaired and back in the air as soon as possible.

Corgi Meteor First Shots.

NATO Tiger Meet 2014′s colourful combat aircraft.

NATO Tiger Meet (NTM) is a two-week multi-national mid-size exercise that includes all types of air-to-air and air-to-ground and a wide variety of support missions, comprising CSAR and large COMAOs (Composite Air Operations).
NTM2014 (with spotters days on Jun. 19 and 23) was held at Schleswig – Jagel, in northern Germany.
Along with the first Eurofighter Typhoon in tiger color scheme, several other aircraft attended the drills with brand new, flamboyant tiger color schemes: French Rafales, Polish F-16 Block 52+ jetsTurkish F-16Cs, and Czech JAS-39 Gripen sported cool tiger liveries.

Cope Taufan 14, a biennial Large Employment Exercise which took place from Jun. 9 to 20 in Malaysia, was attended by U.S. F-15s from 104th Fighter Wing, from Barnes ANGB (Air National Guard Base), Massachusetts, F-22 Raptor stealth fighters from the 154th Wing, Joint Base Peal Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, as well as several other aircraft belonging to the U.S. Air Force and Royal Malaysian Air Force, including RMAF MIG-29N Fulcrum, Su-30, BAE Hawk, and F/A-18D Hornets.
A new maritime exercise is currently taking place in the same region, involving U.S. Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and Royal Malaysian Air Force and Navy: PASSEX.

The goal of “Red Flag” is to provide pilots with realistic training scenarios that they could or would face if they went into actual combat. The Red Team is made up from aircraft and pilots from the 64th AGRS flying F-16Cs and the 65th AGRS operating F-15Cs. 

The 64th is allocated 24 F-16C Fighting Falcons that are painted in schemes as seen on similar-type Russian aircraft. F-16C 87-0307 was delivered to the USAF on December 19, 1988 and wears red Bort 07.

Phantom II RF-4C CR12-51/12-60 of the Spanish Air Force was formerly 65-0851 c/n 1352 of the 165 TRS/123 TRW Kentucky ANG and was sold to Spain on January 11, 1989. The aircraft was assigned to the 123 Escadron “Titane”. 

When Spain switched from the F-4E to the F-18 they considered replacing the RF-4Cs with Mirage F-1CRs but the deal was cancelled. The last RF-4C flew in 2002 and were replaced by F-18As with a recce-pod attached making themE/F(R) -18A+.

The aircraft belonging to ZG 26 carried the “Horst Wessel” insignia on both sides of the nose as well red tipped propeller spinners and white bands around the rear portion of the fuselage denoting their service in the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations. 

From April 1941 until late December 1941 the third Gruppe, 8th Staffel, Zerstorergeschwader 26 was based in North Africa at Derna, Libya. Bf-110E-2 3U+KS spent much of its time providing long range maritime escorts along the North Africa coast.
