Corgi 1/32 scale update.

After the successful release of the BoB Doe Spitfire, and the Herman Graf Red Tulip Bf109G-6, which is still available in retail outlets, Corgi followed with the announcement of two new releases.

First is the DeHavilland Mosquito FBVI – HX922, EG-F, RAF 487 Sqn, Grp Capt P.C. Pickard, Amiens Raid, February 1944. The forth of the 1/32 Mosquitos, this model is sold out at Corgi and retailers have already stopped taking pre-orders  in the UK.

This long retired mold seems to have been converted from the standard bomber/reconnaisance version to the fighter bomber version. This required modifications to the Cockpit frame, access hatch, armament and more. We have taken one pre-order for the Mosquito.

The other model is Messerschmitt 109G-2, Black 6, RAF Museum Hendon. This model should prove very popular in the UK where it spent years on the air show circuit before crashing and being restored to display status. 

Harry Worthan Custom Carousel 1 Battle of Britain Bf 109E

In something of a coup we've secured a very special Bf 109 E model. Originally manufactured by Carousel 1 in 1/48, this model has been professionally customised into "Yellow 8", which saw service in the Battle of Britain, by Harry Worthan of Tulsa Oklahoma.

The model was stripped of the original livery and custom painted. You will notice the superb mottling that mass production has yet to master. Provision was also made for the Corgi stand since the original model did not come with one.

On Finals for D9D we have the following!!!

Already a few models have touched down!!! We have two Witty Sky Guardians mordern jets in the form of the Russian Su-27 "Blue 31" and the VF-84 Jolly Rogers US Navy F-14 Tomcat. Also landed is the Corgi Black Cat Catalina.

Still to come: From Hobby Master the F-100 and no less than FOUR F-4 Phantom IIs, the F-4F in Luftwaffe colours, the RF-4E Kai in Japanese colurs, the F-4J USN Black Bunny and the USAF F-4C Robin Olds.

From Corgi we have the BAe Hawk in No. 19 Battle of Britain markings. From Skymax we have the Strikemaster in RNZAF colours and the Taiwanese F-84. From Gemini Aces the BF109F flown by Herman Graf, JG52, Yellow 1 . From IXO their AS532 Cougar Superpuma French Army.

From Century Wings we have the US Marines Desert Storm A-6 Intruder in low-vis colours and the French F-8 Crusader. All the above mentioned models are in 1/72.

Inflight200 SAA Boeing 747 SP on finals!!!

While Dora 9 Diecast specialises in Military Aviation we felt compelled to highlight this soon to be released SAA Boeing 747 SP ZS-SPB!!! It will feature a polished belly and was due to be launched in February 2011.

Two have already been placed on pre-order and we will be happy to accept more orders. Provisionally we're looking at around R2500, dependant on exchange rates, shipping and customs.

The SAA Boeing 747-200 ZS-SAM previously produced in limited quatities fetches in excess of US$300 in the collector market and is extremely hard to find.

ZS-SPB is finished in a similar scheme and will definetly warm the hearts many unable to secure the previous release.

New Hobby Master Releases for May 2011

For May we see some very interesting new releases from Hobby Master. Standouts 1/72 scale include a new mold in the form of the Japanese F1 strike aircraft and the modified TF-104 two seat Starfighter.

Also of interest is the Iranian F-4E which would go well with the Iranian F-14 by Century Wings. For WWII collectors there's the new Japanese Kate and the American Invader.

In 1/48 we have two Major Clarence "Bud" Anderson P-51D Mustangs, "Old Crow", one being an exclusive Signature Edition. There's also a Mk.I Spitfire based at Duxford in 1938.

With regards the Airliner Range, there's a Swiss Air Ju-52 in 1/144 and in 1/200 we have a new mold in the form of a DC-7C. As usual, the first livery is in the colours of Pan-Am.

Another hard to find model secured!!!

Well, after what seems an eternity hunting down models, things seem to have picked up with the purchase of this 1/72 scale Corgi Catalina, "Black Cat"!!! Another highly sought after model secured just this afternoon!!!

The Catalina is a beautiful model by Corgi and can be had either as a flying boat or an amphibian. It is available in RAF Coastal Command, RCAF and USAAF liveries. Without doubt this is one of the most sought after schemes.
