Final product photos, HA2511, F-105B Thunderchief New Jersey ANG "Bicentennial".

Hobby Master 1/72 Air Power Series, HA2511, F-105B Thunderchief 108th TFW, 141 TFS, New Jersey ANG "Bicentennial".

In April 1964 the 108th TFW received the F-105B Thunderchief replacing the aging F-86 Sabre this made the 108th the first ANG unit capable of flying at Mach 2. 

The Thunderchief served with the 108th until 1981 when it was replaced by the F-4D Phantom II. In 1976 F-105B 57-5776 c/n B13 was selected to receive the custom American Bicentennial paint scheme to honour the country's 200th birthday. 

57-5776 was one of the lucky F-105s spared from the bone yard and has been preserved on a pedestal at what is now the 108th Air Refueling Wing, New Jersey Air National Guard compound located at McGuire AFB, New Jersey.

Hobby Master 1/48 Air Power Series, HA7012, Brewster Buffalo Model 239 BW-393 "White 7", 1st Lt. Hans Wind, CO of 1/LeLv 24, Suulajarvu, Jan 1943.

On August 1, 1941 1Lt. Hans “Hasse” Wind joined 4/LeLv 24 and on March 29, 1942 he became an ace. In August 1942 Wind was transferred to 1/LeLv 24 and was assigned Brewster Model 239 BW-393 “White 7”. 

On November 10 1942 Wind took command of the flight until January 15,1943. On May 27, 1943 he was transferred to 3/LeLv 24 and was promoted to Captain on October 19, 1943. At this point in time Capt. Wind’s BW-393, now “Red 9” had 29 victories marks on the tail. In October 1944 the aircraft was destroyed in a Soviet bombing raid. 

He finished with a total of 302 combat sorties, racking up 75 kills. 39 kills came flying a Brewster Model 239 and 36 kills were accomplished flying a Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 numbered MT-439.

Shuttle's Report - Duxford 16 July 2013


Just a quick visit today but what a pleasant surprise - the Red Bull B-25 was on the flight line. I believe it is at Duxford before its appearance at Fairford? There was also a Puma and the Shuttleworth Hind was still in the hanger.

Still echoes of the successful 2013 'Legends' but sadly Princess Elizabeth looks like she is on her way back to the USA.
